THE CAPTAINS HOTEL 44 Amerikis Street, Kos Town.
I do not agree with a lot of the comments about The Captains Hotel and the Thumbs Down Icon, after all it is ONLY a 2* rated hotel and it does NOT advertise that it provides entertainment etc.
The Captains Hotel is very good, it is about 7 / 10 mins from the harbour and 5 / 7 mins from the beach. It is very, very clean and ALL the staff are excellent. The owners, Stefanos and Irene are always making improvements and the hotel now has double glazing, air conditioning and a safe in each room. The breakfast is continental in style and is served in the reception area of the hotel. The balcony's are a little on the small side, but after all it is only a 2* Hotel, it has a 24 hour bar, but, and a big but is that it does not get too noisy as Manos the night manager makes sure of that, and he is a great guy, nothing is too much trouble for him. The Captains Hotel gets a lot of regular guests who return year after year.
It has a very nice clean pool which is shared with the hotel next door, and it has a sitting out terrace at the front of the hotel.
The maids Maria 1 and Maria 2 look after the rooms and all the cleaning, they are both very nice ladies and nothing is too much trouble for them. Yet another Maria who was the afternoon receptionist maybe back this year ( Summer 2010 ), and who speaks very good English as she has lived in Australia is another person who keeps you smiling and looks after all the guests.
Well done Stafanos, you have a great team.
THIS HOTEL IS NOT IN ANY OF THE USUAL BROCHURES BUT IT CAN BE FOUND AND BOOKED IF YOU VISIT THE
TRAVEL REPUBLIC http://www.travelrepublic.co.uk/ WEB SITE.

I stayed at this hotel a few years ago now and I have to say it was proberbly the worst holiday I have had. Although the staff were very friendly and did their best I found the lack of entertainment made the holiday boring. Also sharing the pool with the other hotel became a bit of a problem because me and a friend would be in the pool minding our own buisness playing bat and ball and all we got was complaints. I was here for 2 weeks and after 3 days I wanted to come home. I would recommend this hotel for people who are looking for a quite holiday. Its definatly not for the teenage age group.

My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks at the Captains. What a clean, friendly place. The bedding was changed every other day, and the towels were fresh every day. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Although the rooms were small, we found them quite adequate. What a pleasant change to be allowed to take breakfasts to room to eat on the balcony, and to be able to bring our own food in when we felt like it. Manos even offered to make tea when we arrived at 6 in the morning. We'll definatley come back to the Captains.

I have just returned from a week at the Captains Hotel with my wife, son and girlfriend. Our first impression of the hotel was not very good and unfortunately this was true for the remainder of the accommodation too. As we sized the hotel exterior up and down and walked into the reception area we all looked at each other in astonishment and disappointment. It can best be described as something out a 1970’s pub decorated with ships, anchors and dark wooden panelling…I’m sure you get the picture. I have visited the Greek Island for eleven years or so and Kos four times in that period. I can quite honestly say this was the worst accommodation that I have stayed in. Dislikes:

Three other parties, including ourselves, complained to the Rep who after prompting managed to find alternate accommodation with availability but at an additional cost of 300Euro. We decided to stay as we were now three days into our holiday with only four days remaining. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CAPTAINS HOTEL, KOS TOWN

my wife and i hace stayed at the captains now for the last 4 times in kos and would give it marks of 10 out of 10 stefanos and co do a fabulous job of making u feel at home. the central location is better than ideal for everyone, close to restaurants and bars, the best restaurant is the caravan taverna about 150 yards from the captains hotel and the steki cafe about 50 yards fro the hotel.
we are going to kos for 3 weeks in june 07 and we look forward to seeing all our freinds again soon.
there is no better place to stay. period

We stayed in the Captains Hotel from the 1st of June - 16th June 2006. We couldn't have asked for anything more! The staff (Owners, reception, bar staff and cleaners) were absolutly fantastic. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean with double glazing and air conditioning. Everyone staying in the Captains hotel got on really well and it was a brilliant atmosphere! Its only a short 5-10 minute walk to the shops, bars, harbour and restaurants. We would definately recommend staying at the Captains and we cant wait to go back!! Thank you Stephanos, Manos, Maria and Irene and other staff for a fab holiday!!!
